Science Laboratory Technician cum Teaching Assistant
The Services required are setout as follows:
- Laboratory Preparation andSetup
• • Preparematerials, apparatus, and/ specimens for science lessons and annual practicaltest. • • Set up and testexperimental apparatus before lessons to ensure functionality and safety. • • Assist teachersin conducting practical lessons, practical test, demonstrations, and scienceexperiments. • • Dismantle andclean up after science laboratory lessons, ensuring all equipment are properlystored.
- Laboratory Maintenance andHousekeeping
• • Maintaincleanliness and tidiness of laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas. • • Clean and washlaboratory apparatus, glassware, and equipment after use. • • Ensure thatequipment and facilities are well-maintained and in working condition. • • Assist inregular pest control, ventilation, and general upkeep of laboratory areas.
- Safety and Compliance
• • Ensurecompliance with safety guidelines. • • Keep SafetyData Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and ensure proper labelling of bottles andcontainers. • • Assist in thesafe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
- Inventory and ResourceManagement
• • Conduct simplestock-taking and update inventory records regularly. • • Prepare andpropose procurement of science materials and equipment to HOD Science/ LHScience. • • Receive andverify delivery of items ordered and ensure proper storage.
- Support for GreenEnvironment/ Science department Initiatives
• • Maintain lifestocks such as plants and other living specimens used in science lessons. • • Maintain andmonitor the operations of indoor hydroponic system, support the upkeep ofgarden green spaces. • • Assist teachersin preparing materials for teaching and learning/ recess programme activities. Officer will report to the Headof Department (Science). There is noover time pay. - Academic Qualifications
• • GCE ‘O’ Levelcertification with passes in Science subjects OR • • Nitec or HigherNitec in a science-related discipline The Personnel shall minimallyhave the following knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge and Skills
• • Basicunderstanding of scientific apparatus. • • Competent inhandling reagents and simple experimental set-ups.
- Experience
• • Priorexperience in a school laboratory role is an advantage, but fresh graduates arewelcome.
