Google Cloud Foundation Architect

USG Professionals is looking for a Google Cloud Foundation Architect for our client in the Mechelen region. This can be both as a USG Project consultant or on a Freelance basis! For a challenging greenfield cloud project, we are looking for an experienced Google Cloud Foundation Architect who wants to help lay the architectural foundations for a future-proof enterprise cloud environment.

The first concrete use case? Enabling Google Gemini alongside existing AI platforms such as Microsoft Foundry and AWS Bedrock. In the longer term, the foundation will grow into a scalable platform on which new DevOps teams can onboard efficiently and securely.

Your challenge

As a Google Cloud Foundation Architect, you will help determine the architecture, standards, and design principles of the new cloud environment. You combine enterprise architecture, security, governance, and cloud engineering, and ensure that the chosen architecture is also effectively implementable.

You will work on, among other things:

• Google Cloud Architecture – designing an enterprise-wide cloud foundation and landing zone.
• Security & Governance – threat modelling, security controls, encryption, compliance, and governance.
• IAM – developing RBAC, Federated Identity, and Least Privilege.
• Networking – designing scalable and secure Google Cloud networking.
• Operations & Observability – logging, monitoring, SIEM integration, and operational processes.
• Cloud Management & FinOps – cost management, showback/chargeback, and lifecycle governance.
• Infrastructure as Code – automating cloud components and supporting implementation teams.
• Migration & Adoption – migrating existing workloads and onboarding future DevOps teams.

Who are we looking for?

Must-have

• Demonstrable experience with Google Cloud Platform in enterprise environments.
• Experience with Cloud Foundations / Landing Zones.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, IAM, security, networking, and governance.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Good knowledge of GCP, Terraform, and Python.
• Strong knowledge of English.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Google Gemini, Microsoft Foundry, or AWS Bedrock.
• Experience within a regulated environment or financial sector.
• Knowledge of FinOps.
• Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
