The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department and have today over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5,000 undergraduate students study one or more courses at the department every year. More information about us can be found on the Department of Information Technology's website. We are now looking for students who want to work as teaching assistants in period 2.
Tasks
Participation in teaching for the course listed below. Participation in teaching means, for example, participating in laboratories and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked with ENG have English as the language of instruction. Applications are received in Uppsala University's recruitment system. If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the tasks also include a mandatory introductory day.
Qualification requirements
Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (Högskoleförordningen) Chapter 5. Only those admitted to education at undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as a teaching assistant (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course they will be assisting with, as well as very good knowledge of English in speech and writing.
Desirable/merit-based qualifications
Previous experience from participating in teaching in relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.
Application procedure
The application must contain a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language, and knowledge (e.g., academic transcripts). The application must further contain which course the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, and the number of hours must sum to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). Also attach your registration certificate.
About the employment
The employment is time-limited according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until 2027-01-31 or according to agreement. The extent is up to 50% depending on which period(s) and how many hours you work. Commencement 2026-10-19 or according to agreement. Location: Uppsala
