Up to 30 Teaching Assistants in Computer Science
The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department and have over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Approximately 5,000 undergraduate students take one or more courses at the department every year. More information about us can be found on the Department of Information Technology's website. We are now seeking students who wish to work as teaching assistants in period 2 and 3.
Duties
Participation in teaching for one or more of the courses listed below. Participation in teaching means, for example, assisting in laboratories and lectures, grading assignments, answering students' questions, and supervising student projects. Courses marked with ENG use English as the language of instruction. Applications are received through Uppsala University's recruitment system. If you have not been a teaching assistant before, the duties also include a mandatory introductory day.
Qualification Requirements
Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5. Only those admitted to programs at undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as teaching assistants (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the field of the course they will be assisting with, as well as very good proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Other Desirable/Meritorious Qualifications
Previous experience participating in teaching in relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT systems (Studium) is desirable, as well as good knowledge of Uppsala University's organization.
Application Procedure
The application must include a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language, and knowledge (e.g., transcript of records). The application must further include which courses the applicant is interested in and an estimate of the number of hours they wish to work (per course and period, where the total number of hours must sum to 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120). Also attach your transcript of records.
About the Employment
The employment is time-limited according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until 2027-01-31 or 2027-04-04 or by agreement. The extent is up to 50% depending on which period(s) and how many hours you work. Commencement 2025-10-19 or 2026-10-19 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
