Description of the employment subject area
The subject area for the employment is human-computer interaction – an interdisciplinary subject that focuses on the development and evaluation of methods and tools for constructing computer-based artifacts that support people, organizations, and society in achieving their goals. Understanding and formulating theories about the fundamental conditions for the interaction process are necessary for the design of successful IT systems. Artificial intelligence and interaction with advanced technology require new knowledge and emphasize the need to integrate ethical aspects into the development of computerized artifacts.
Duties
Teaching and administration. Teaching includes course responsibility and course administration. The course for which we are seeking a fixed-term lecturer is:

Following developments within the own subject area and societal developments in general that are relevant to the work at the university.
Eligibility requirements
Degree with specialization in higher education within computer science, human-computer interaction, or information technology.
Documented experience of fullstack development with JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Pedagogical skill. It is required that the pedagogical skill and subject specialization are relevant to the employment's subject area and the duties to be included in the employment. The applicant shall have undergone higher education pedagogical training relevant to operations within the university or have acquired equivalent knowledge.
Documented ability to teach in English unless special reasons exist.
Personal qualities required to fulfill the employment well.
Assessment criteria for applicants who meet the above eligibility requirements
In the selection among eligible applicants, special weight will be attached to both documented subject specialization and pedagogical skill, whereby special weight will be attached to the pedagogical skill.
Subject specialization may refer to a degree completed at the research level. In addition to academic merits, experience from other activities, which includes for example technology development, may also be considered.
Pedagogical skill refers to educational and teaching merits. In addition to academic merits, educational and teaching merits from other activities, which includes for example supervision, internal training, or mentorship programs, may also be considered. When assessing pedagogical skill, pedagogical quality shall be considered in the first instance. Scope, both breadth and depth, shall also be given importance. When assessing pedagogical skill, special weight will be placed on merits within programming teaching.
Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to link teaching to research based on research in the relevant subject, subject didactics, and higher education pedagogy, will be given importance. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also included in the pedagogical skill.
Administrative skill is significant for the employment and will be given weight. Administrative skill is demonstrated, among other things, through the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in an effective and purpose-adapted manner, as well as through the ability to specify and meet timeframes. Included in this skill is overall operational planning as well as the ability to manage resources in a way that reflects the operations' priorities, as well as the ability to work in a structured manner based on an awareness of goals and quality. Administrative skill also refers to entrepreneurship.
Other skills: Experience with study administration systems and learning platforms used at Uppsala University (e.g., Ladok and Canvas) is an important qualifying factor for the employment and will be considered.
All merits must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.

About the employment
The employment is fixed-term until 31 January 2027. The extent is 55%. Commencement 12 October 2026 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
