Uppsala universitet hereby announces a vacancy for a position as postdoc at Institutionen för fysik och astronomi, avdelningen för materialteori. Avdelningen för materialteori conducts world-class research in condensed matter theory, using both numerical and analytical methods. The research focuses on magnetism, electronic structures, topological phases, correlation phenomena, and materials for green energy.
Job Duties The position as postdoc involves working in a large theoretical environment focusing on the development and application of methods to simulate magnetism, especially atomic and multiscale simulations. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to collaborate with leading experimental and theoretical groups at Uppsala universitet as well as other Swedish universities with a research focus on functional magnetic materials.
Qualification Requirements
A doctoral degree in physics or a foreign degree assessed to correspond to a doctoral degree in physics, with good knowledge of condensed matter theory, must be fulfilled no later than when the employment decision is made. Primarily, candidates who have completed their degree no more than three years ago should be considered. When calculating the three-year period, the starting point is the application deadline. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within trade unions, etc.
- The successful candidate is expected to possess expertise in atomic or micromagnetic simulation methods, where both software development and the application of these methods are important and are assessment parameters.
- Good communication skills in both oral and written English.
Other Desirable/Meritorious Qualifications
Experience with the development of multiscale methods, e.g., implementation on GPU architecture, and their applications to magnetism is considered particularly meritorious.
About the Employment
The employment is fixed-term for two years according to the central collective agreement. The scope is full-time. Start date: 1/12 2026 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
