Project Description

The holder of this position will work in a research group at Uppsala University, primarily within a project that requires experience in advanced structural biology and biophysics.

Tasks

The project will involve investigating how molecules move in microRNA and how that regulates their function, and how we can ultimately manipulate it with the small molecules that will become drugs. Investigations are conducted using advanced NMR experiments and SHAPE on RNA molecules. The person will produce RNA samples using solid-phase synthesis or in vitro transcription, purify them, and then measure and determine the RNA's structure and dynamics using NMR, SHAPE, and other biophysical methods.

Qualification Requirements

Master's degree in biochemistry or biophysics. Documented laboratory experience in structural biology and biophysics, sequencing or knowledge in NMR, as well as experience in RNA handling. Requirement for very good knowledge of English, both oral and written. You must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with other group members. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability such as ability to cooperate, flexibility, precision, and a sense of responsibility.
