The Faculty of Law in Uppsala is the oldest law faculty in the Nordics and existed when the university was founded in 1477. It offers an extensive and well-regarded undergraduate and postgraduate education. Within the faculty is the Department of Law, where approximately 200 people are employed.

Tasks

As a research assistant, you will assist researchers in two projects: one concerning consumer and data law aspects of public smart and bidirectional charging, and one dealing with data protection and AI regulation with a focus on rare diseases. You will have ongoing contact with the project leaders for the legal part, Associate Professor Santa Slokenberga and Senior Lecturer Andreas Kotsios, and assist them in the work with legal research and project administration. This involves a responsibility to support the project by conducting thorough legal analyses of legislation, case law, and other legal documents. You will also help prepare relevant legal documents, correspondence, reports, and scientific articles, and ensure that all information is correct and up to date. Since the projects are interdisciplinary, you will also support the work in research design and the analysis of the empirical parts conducted by others in the group.

Qualifications

You have a bachelor's degree in law. You must have documented experience in research work focusing on EU consumer, AI, data, and data protection law. You should also have a very good understanding of the technology itself (e.g., development of digital solutions) and simultaneously a good understanding of socio-legal (empirical) studies. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement.

As an applicant, you should find it easy to cooperate and enjoy working both independently and in larger interdisciplinary project groups. Furthermore, great importance is placed on personal suitability such as flexibility, problem-solving skills, and quality awareness. Initiative and a structured way of working are important for this position.

Other desirable/meritorious qualifications

You have documented knowledge in academic legal research and practical experience in system development.
