Researcher in experimental immunology
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala universitet constitutes a broad international environment for research and teaching. At IMBIM, basic research is conducted in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, tumor biology, comparative genetics, functional genomics, immunology, bacteriology, and virology. The department's research is primarily fundamental, but in its application, it has a clear connection and significance for health and disease in both animals and humans. Duties
The main duties are research regarding molecular mechanisms in inflammatory skin diseases, including psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. The research will specifically focus on various methods to study the role of mast cells in these diseases. The work will include, among other things, new methods to induce selective apoptosis in mast cells. The work encompasses culturing primary cells as well as several techniques to study the effect of different substances on mast cells in the skin, for example fluorescence microscopy, live-imaging, flow cytometry, in vivo techniques, as well as various cell biological and biochemical methods.
Qualification requirements
PhD in immunology, molecular biology/cell biology or equivalent, with extensive experience in experimental laboratory work. The position requires documented experience in cell culture and in vivo techniques, as well as experience with various immunological and cell biological methods such as flow cytometry, qPCR, Western blot, transfection, cell staining, and microscopy. Previous experience in skin biology and/or mast cell biology is meritorious. The applicant must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with other group members and with national and international partners. Very good knowledge of English, both oral and written, is required. Personal qualities such as flexibility, precision, and the ability to cooperate are valued.

About the employment
The employment is fixed-term for 6 months, with a possible possibility for continued employment. The extent is full-time. Commencement by agreement. Location: Uppsala
