Bioinformatician focusing on research support in image analysis
The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, with approximately 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Around 5,000 students take one or more courses at the department every year. You can find more information about us on the Department of Information Technology's website.
The advertised position is located at the Vi3 department within the Department of Information Technology, and is part of the BioImage Informatics Unit (BIIF) within the SciLifeLab bioinformatics platform (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden, NBIS).
Within BIIF, we offer research support and courses in digital image processing and image analysis for applications within life science.
BIIF is part of NBIS – 120 experts offering advanced bioinformatics support, infrastructure, and training to Swedish life science research – as well as part of Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) – a national center for molecular bioscience research with a focus on health and environmental research. Our working environment is the Vi3 department at the Department of Information Technology, which brings together a unique combination of expertise in computerized image processing, human-computer interaction, and computer science education.
We have a strong connection to NMI, National Microscopy Infrastructure, and are part of Euro-BioImaging. BIIF thus has a good connection to infrastructure for both image acquisition and data analysis.
