Our research group specializes in the synthesis and optimization of a wide spectrum of porous materials, including porous oxides, zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOF), zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF), etc. We are now seeking a research assistant to join our group. As a research assistant, you will be responsible for conducting experimental research work within the development of mixed metal oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOF) with narrow pores as efficient photocatalysts.

Tasks:

Typical tasks include synthesis and characterization (e.g., X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and gas adsorption) of solid oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOF), as well as collaboration with other researchers regarding photocatalytic reactions using MOF materials. The tasks also include assisting other researchers with experiments in related research areas.

Qualification requirements:

To be employed as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted to and registered in an undergraduate or graduate program, and the employment may correspond to at most 50% of full-time employment. Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5.

We are looking for you with good academic results from a master's program or civil engineering program in, for example, mechanical engineering or materials technology, and who has completed at least two years of full-time studies. We also assume good results in courses in materials technology or mechanical engineering.

For this position, the following is required:

Good results in courses in inorganic, organic, or analytical chemistry. Good skills in laboratory work and data analysis. Very good organizational skills. Good written and oral proficiency in English. Experience in synthesis and characterization of MOF materials, especially for the adsorption of pollutants.

Other desirable/merit qualifications

Documented experience in research communication, or a willingness to contribute to the group's research communication through the use of social media.

Instructions for application: A short personal letter where you describe yourself and why you are suitable for this position (max 1 page) CV (max 1 page) Certificate of registration showing that you are admitted and registered to higher education/university during the term you wish to claim (copies of grades, contact details for references, letters of recommendation, etc.)
