National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS) is now seeking one additional 1 system developer. We are a national infrastructure whose purpose is to provide support for bioinformaticians and researchers within the life sciences. The system development group consists of two scrum teams that develop tools for large-scale data management and web applications for research groups and EU-funded projects, all within the field of bioinformatics.

Tasks
As a system developer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a sharing platform for human genomics data from research projects, in collaboration with our partners in other European countries. The goal of these projects, such as Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI), is to help researchers be able to share their data in a secure manner, and thereby facilitate their collaborations around human health and medicine.
The GDI project is about enabling secure access to genomic and clinical data within the EU, to be able to improve clinical diagnostics, treatments, and predictive medicine. Bigpicture is another European flagship that aims to build a Petabyte platform for AI within digital pathology. Our collaborative partners come from academia as well as healthcare and industry.
You will work closely with other developers in one of our scrum teams and contribute to the aforementioned projects. The scrum team is responsible for the products' entire lifecycle, from planning and development to deployment and maintenance. You will be part of a team that values creativity and would like to see you participate in influencing all decisions within the group.
Qualification requirements
As an applicant, you must have at least a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer engineering, computer science, systems science, or bioinformatics, or alternatively equivalent documented competence in one or more of these areas.
Furthermore, the following is required:
At least five years of documented experience in system development with Golang, Python, and Kubernetes including
Helm and Hashicorp Vault or OpenBao
At least ten years of experience with databases, e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB At least ten years of documented experience with virtualization solutions and software containers (e.g., Docker or Podman) At least ten years of experience with version control with Git and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines) At least ten years of experience working agile according to scrum and scrum role certificates (scrummaster or product owner) At least five years of documented experience in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible and one or more cloud providers (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) At least five years of documented experience in Bash At least five years of experience and a good understanding of message queues or event streams (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) That you can express yourself unhindered in English, both in speech and writing.
Great importance will be placed on personal suitability; the applicant must have very good collaborative abilities, initiative, and good communication qualities.
Other desirable/meritorious qualifications
The following are considered meritorious:
Experience working in physically distributed teams with communication and coordination via electronic tools such as video meetings and similar. Experience working with information security is highly meritorious Experience in teaching and supervision Good understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, JWT) Knowledge of bioinformatics, in particular, experience with tools and methods for the analysis of human genomics data is especially sought after. Experience with project management tools, e.g., Zenhub, Jira. Experience working with infrastructure systems for sensitive data, especially within the public sector or academia.
