Within our Hardware development department, and under the responsibility of Marc, Design Office Manager, your mission will be to support the design office hardware team and the systems team in the design, simulation, and validation/qualification of the RF performance of payloads. These activities primarily consist of analyzing mission and payload specifications, performing analyses using RF/electromagnetic simulation tools for payload and satellite performance, and conducting measurement campaigns and experimental RF and EMC (RF compatibility or RFC) characterization.

More specifically, your missions will be as follows:

  • Coordinate RF development activities (antennas and front end) internally and externally
  • Write RF validation and verification plans for payloads, taking into account technical requirements and project schedules.
  • Coordinate normative EMC testing internally or through outsourcing
  • Analyze RF and EMC phenomena and propose mitigation solutions (shielding, filtering, architecture) for the design of payloads and satellite platforms.
  • Organize and perform the EMC and RF tests necessary for the verification and qualification of payloads and satellites.
  • Perform RF electromagnetic simulations (antennas, radiation, coupling) using dedicated tools such as CST Studio Suite
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of antennas and RF structures
  • Utilize EMC/RF and antenna measurements (VNA, anechoic chamber, RF test equipment)
  • Analyze and document results to guarantee the compliance of the system's EMC/RF performance
  • Education: Master's degree (engineering school or Master) in radio frequencies, electromagnetism, antennas, or telecommunications
  • Significant experience of at least 3 years in testing, electromagnetic simulation, antenna design, or RF characterization
  • Solid knowledge of radio frequencies and electromagnetism, as well as EMC issues and standards
  • Mastery of electromagnetic simulation tools (CST Studio Suite or equivalent)
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting RF / EMC performance and ensuring equipment compliance with applicable standards
  • RF simulation and analysis of RF structures, antennas, and signal conditioning electronics (front end)
  • Interpretation of electromagnetic simulation results
  • Performance of RF/EMC and antenna measurements
  • Skills in automation and data analysis (Python appreciated)
  • Scientific rigor, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, autonomy, and good writing skills
  • Professional English (reading, writing, and speaking) required
