PhD Fellow at Center for Pharmacy
At the Faculty of Medicine, Center for Pharmacy / Institute for Global Health and Social Medicine, a position as a PhD fellow (100 %) is vacant. The position is available for a period of four (4) years with 25 % career-advancing work, or for a maximum of four months after completion of the doctorate if the degree is completed before four years. The career-advancing work can, for example, be teaching, examination work, or supervision, depending on the needs at the Institute for Global Health and Social Medicine.
The position is linked to research on hyperemesis gravidarum at the research group for Social Pharmacy and is funded by the University of Bergen.

About the project/tasks:
The overall objective of the project is to map the clinical course of hyperemesis gravidarum, treatment, and consequences for mother and child using data from the prospective cohort study SUKK-P and the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (MoBa).
The PhD fellow will work with quantitative research methods, such as surveys, analysis of epidemiological data, and linking of datasets. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to method selection and further development of the project.
The PhD fellow will be affiliated with both the Center for Pharmacy and the research group for social pharmacy, which is part of the field of geriatric medicine, social pharmacy, and interprofessional collaborative learning (FEST).
The PhD fellow is expected to contribute actively in an interdisciplinary environment, and the dissemination of research results is highly emphasized.
Qualifications and attributes:
- The applicant must have completed a master's degree or equivalent in pharmacy
- The applicant must have good oral and written Norwegian skills.
- Applicants who do not have Norwegian as a mother tongue must document skills in Norwegian at least at B2 level.
- Experience with bioinformatics or analysis of large datasets will be an advantage.
- Experience from working in a Norwegian pharmacy or other pharmaceutical workplaces will be an advantage.
- Experience from relevant research projects will be an advantage.
- The person appointed must be able to work independently and structured and have good collaborative skills.
- Ability and motivation to complete a doctoral project.
- Good written and oral English, see documentation requirements
- Personal attributes are emphasized in the assessment.

Research education (the ph.d. program):
The position as a PhD fellow involves completing research education with a doctorate as the goal. The PhD fellow shall enter an approved program for a doctorate within a timeframe of 3 years, without other imposed tasks at the institute. The final plan for the implementation of the research education must be approved by the faculty within three months after starting the position. Admission to the faculty's ph.d. program is a prerequisite for appointment to the position.
PhD fellow position:
The PhD fellow position is a fixed-term position. No one can be employed as a PhD fellow for more than one fixed-term period at the same institution. You also cannot be appointed to a PhD fellow position if you have previously held such an appointment at another institution in the region. The language of instruction is usually Norwegian.

- Salary currently NOK 600,000 (code 1017) in the state salary scale. For applicants with at least one year of employment in a doctor or dentist position, the salary is currently NOK 615,000 (For applicants who are authorized as a doctor or dentist, documentation of Norwegian authorization must be attached to the application). For applicants with specialist training, the salary is currently NOK 635,000 (For applicants who have specialist training, specialist approval from the Norwegian Directorate of Health must be attached.)
