Your tasks
- Analysis and interpretation of NGS data (Panel, WGS: Short- and Long-Reads) in research and diagnostic projects
- Development, automation, and optimization of bioinformatic analysis pipelines for the evaluation of clinical sequencing data
- Further development and operation of existing diagnostic software solutions
- Development of bioinformatic interfaces and web services for diagnostic applications
- Collaboration on scientific publications, presentation of own results
Your profile
- Completed studies in Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, or a comparable field (Master/Diploma)
- Experience in NGS data analysis, ideally with a human genetics focus
- Proficient use of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Java)
- Programming experience with a workflow system, preferably Nextflow or Snakemake
- Familiar with Linux environments and HPC systems
- Experience in the development and use of web services (e.g., REST-APIs) is an advantage
- Good written and spoken English skills

Your future in detail The Zentrum Familiärer Brust- und Eierstockkrebs of the Uniklinik Köln is one of the leading competence centers in Germany for diagnostics, counseling, and research on hereditary tumor diseases. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Volk, the center is currently being expanded into the Institut für familiäre Tumorerkrankungen – with a forward-looking infrastructure that combines clinical care, genetic analytics, and translational research under one roof.
