The position is to be filled in the Fachbereich Biologie at the chair "Biophysik & Strukturbiologie" of Prof Dr. Olga Mayans.https://www.biologie.uni-konstanz.de/mayans/.

Our laboratory deals with the question of how the structure of biomolecules - especially proteins - determines their biological function in the cell. To this end, we elucidate the three-dimensional structure of biomolecules using X-ray crystallography. We carry out all steps of this research, from molecular biology and biochemical procedures to X-ray diffraction of samples and the graphic processing of computational models.

Your Tasks

• Laboratory organization, maintenance, and supplies
• Management of consumables, plasmids, and bacterial strains
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Application of gene cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and general molecular biology methods
• Application of general biochemical laboratory procedures for the recombinant overexpression of proteins in bacterial cultures
• Training of young researchers and participation in research and teaching

Your Profile

• Training as a Technical Assistant or a suitable at least equivalent qualification
• Experience with molecular biology and biochemical methods in connection with proteins
• Familiarity with the specific requirements of a structural biology laboratory
• Organizational skills and teamwork ability
• Willingness for independent planning
• Motivation
• English skills
• Knowledge of standard laboratory computer programs, laboratory data processing, and their documentation
