Restorer Paper/Graphics

The Universalmuseum Joanneum, with 5 million collection objects and around 600 permanent employees, is the most important scientific-cultural institution in the state of Steiermark and the largest universal museum in Central Europe.

In the Museum Service department, we are strengthening our team of restorers and, for the earliest possible start date and at 40 hours per week, are filling the following position: 1 Restorer Paper/Graphics

Graz - Full-time

Your tasks include:

• Analysis and documentation of the state of preservation of the Universalmuseum Joanneum collection holdings
• Creation of treatment concepts
• Participation in the preparation of necessary tenders
• Conservation and restoration care of objects as part of collection maintenance, exhibitions, and loans of the Universalmuseum Joanneum
• Installation and dismantling of exhibitions, care of Universalmuseum Joanneum exhibitions
• Instruction and supervision of all museum staff regarding the handling, mounting, care, and storage of objects
• Participation in the development, investigation, and evaluation of new conservation and restoration techniques
• Transport escorts

You bring with you:

• Completed studies in the conservation and restoration of paper/graphics (University, FH) including academic degree
• Experience in the conservation and restoration care of objects within the framework of exhibitions (presentations/mountings) and collection holdings/convolutes
• Experience from freelance activity or in museum operations is desirable
• Enjoyment of communication as well as good oral and written expression
• Ability to work in a team and a professional personal appearance
• Good English skills, both written and spoken
• Planning and organizational skills
• Solution-oriented and independent way of working
• Temporal flexibility
• Openness to and interest in further training

As a company of the state of Steiermark, we offer you a high degree of security and stability. Depending on your creditable previous professional experience, this position is endowed according to our salary schedule with at least € 2,885.00 gross/month up to € 3,456.00 gross/month (14 x p. a.) based on full-time employment.
