Computer Scientist / Software Engineer for Database Infrastructure (m/f/d) (Software Developer)

You will work in an interdisciplinary team at the interface between a modern biobank and a Data Integration Center (DIZ) in a university research environment. The focus is on the further development of existing IT infrastructures as well as the technical networking of biological samples and research data.

As part of a nationwide research and digitalization project, you will support the expansion of a central biobank platform and its connection to national research infrastructures. The goal is to make data and biological samples available across different locations and usable for research purposes. What to expect from us

• Support and further development of the IT infrastructure
• Administration and further development of biobank information management systems (LIMS/BIMS)
• Development and maintenance of interfaces to data integration centers, research data portals, and national platforms
• Support in data harmonization, interoperability, and FAIR Data principles
• Implementation of data protection and IT security requirements
• Collaboration in national working groups of the NUM and GBN

What you bring to the role

• Completed studies in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, or a comparable qualification
• Mature programming skills in Java, as well as experience in relevant technologies and tools
• Knowledge of databases, interface development, and research data management, as well as data protection and information security concepts in healthcare
• Experience with Linux, SQL, APIs, and container technologies is an advantage
• Interest in biomedical research and digital research infrastructures
• Independent, careful, and structured way of working
• English skills in speaking and writing are required, German skills are desirable
• Very good teamwork and communication skills as well as a friendly and courteous manner with the stakeholders of the biobank
