Assistant Site Manager

Main purpose of the role

The Assistant Site Manager supports the Site Manager in the daily management of a site for the storage and distribution of chemical products. He/she helps to ensure a safe working environment, protect the environment, comply with applicable laws and regulations, provide high service levels, and optimize the operational performance of the site. Additionally, he/she assumes the responsibilities of the Site Manager during his/her absence.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Site Manager in the daily management of operational activities at the site;
• Oversee compliance with all relevant laws and regulations regarding safety, health, environment, and the storage of chemical products;
• Cooperate in the implementation and follow-up of the HSE policy (Health, Safety & Environment);
• Supervise the receipt, storage, order processing, and shipment of products;
• Together with the Continuous Improvement Lead, contribute to the development, follow-up, and analysis of performance indicators regarding safety, quality, productivity, and costs;
• Support the preparation and follow-up of budgets and the monitoring of operational costs;
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement improvement initiatives;
• Contribute to the management of emergency situations and prevention plans;
• Coach, guide, and further develop operational employees;
• Maintain contact with government agencies, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies when necessary;
• Replace the Site Manager during absences and ensure the continuity of activities.

Your profile

• You have demonstrable experience in managing logistical activities within an industrial environment, preferably with chemical products;
• You possess thorough knowledge of HSE regulations and the legal requirements for industrial sites;
• You are a natural leader who knows how to motivate, guide, and develop people;
• You are highly organized, work in a structured manner, and have a solution-oriented mindset;
• You feel at home in an environment where safety, quality, and compliance are absolute priorities;
• You are familiar with common IT tools and operational management systems;
• You communicate fluently in French and English. Knowledge of Dutch is a strong asset.
