Major duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH is searching for an Open Source Analyst to support NSIC (GG-0132-7 target 12). This position is covered by the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS). For additional information about DCIPS, click here: https://dcips.defense.gov/ Description: NSIC is looking for candidates to support our burgeoning open-source program. In this critical role, you will exploit, analyze, and synthesize Publicly Available Information (PAI) and open-source data to identify emerging threats, characterize foreign space/counterspace capabilities, and deliver high-impact intelligence. This position serves as an open-source analyst providing research and analytic support across the NSIC mission. Beyond open-source research and analysis, this position supports key program management functions-including oversight of managed attribution efforts, collection requirements, data acquisition, advanced analytic tooling, and contract integration. As a core member of a cross-functional team coordinating Center-wide OSINT and foreign language capabilities, the ideal candidate is an agile self-starter capable of driving projects independently in a fast-paced national security environment. Ideal Candidate: -Experience with the intelligence cycle to include leveraging PAI and submitting open-source requirements -Expert knowledge of open-source intelligence, PAI, CAI, and the use of linguists in the IC. This expertise should be founded in experience directly supporting/conducting at least one of those areas. -Foreign language skills, ideally in Mandarin and/or Russian, is desired but not required. -Experience with PAI/CAI tools and data sets. Knowledge of foreign space and counterspace systems, concepts, technologies, and capabilities Key Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of intelligence community policies, entities, missions, resources, operations, capabilities and requirements to perform intelligence research and operations planning, collection, target analysis and/or other intelligence-related activities.
2. Knowledge of the principles, concepts and methodologies of intelligence operations, research, analysis and integration; and skill in analysis/production of reports and other products in response to the specific needs of customers to include formulating, gathering, organizing and analyzing information; resolving conflicts; and presenting clear and concise findings.
3. Skill in conducting unbiased, difficult research, identify appropriate available systems/data sources, and produce collections requirements assessments that answer specific tasks to link and leverage agency capabilities and to develop new methods, approaches, or procedures.
4. Skill in analysis and production of reports and other products that respond to specific needs of customers to include formulating, gathering, organizing and analyzing information; and presenting clear and concise findings.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations.
