SURFACE SHIP PRODUCTION MANAGER
You will serve as a SURFACE SHIP PRODUCTION MANAGER in the Weld Shop (Code 926), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
- You will direct and assure the success of the assigned supervisory and nonsupervisory personnel by ensuring compliance with established practices and policies.
- You will determine short and long term needs for resources.
- You will ensure compliance with all standards pf work established for the particular Surface Ship Platform to which you have subordinate personnel assigned for conversion, overhaul or repair.
- You will develop performance standards and evaluate performance of subordinate Managers.
- You will identify training needs and implement actions to eliminate bottlenecks.
- You will interface with all levels of Shipyard management, including all department heads and Shipyard Commander, the ship’s Commanding Officer and technical staff.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience establishing practices and policies of Code 926 welding shop trade skill. Experience applying knowledge of surface ship platforms. Experience applying knowledge of scientific management, production controls, cost controls, and budget control. Experience applying production operations, processes, and procedures. Experience comprehending complex interrelated or not fully defined jobs, conducting analysis and assessment, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations for work breakdown. Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing..
