PIPEFITTER LEADER

You will serve as a Pipefitter Leader in the Production Resources Department, Pipe Shop of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

• You will be responsible for passing on information to other non-nuclear or nuclear pipefitters, about assigned projects.
• You will instruct of proper work procedures and methods, use tools, and safety pertaining to shop trade skills.
• You will see that materials, tools, all software, and equipment required for the crew to accomplish assignments are available.
• You will exercise direct control over students' activities, instruct and advise students who appear to be falling behind in level of proficiency, suggest how improvements can be made, and report disciplinary problems to shop supervisors.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: - Provide appropriate skills training utilizing tools, such as mock-ups, in shop work areas and facilities. - Direct crew in the proper setting up of various evolution's, such as ship arrivals, docking, and undocking. - Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical instructions, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.
