Police Records Specialist
About the Position: Serves as Police Records Specialist for the Fort Sill Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and managing the activities of the Police Records Administration Office. The incumbent performs a full range of personnel management duties for Soldiers and civilian employees assigned to the police records branch.
Major duties
- Cross-examines databases, analyze interviews, inspections, and surveys, and studies pertinent regulations.
- Compile information and prepares recommendations with supporting justification.
- Review and correct deficiencies found in incoming, unedited, and uncoded draft Military Police Reports (MPRs).
- Provide assistance to walk-in visitors and telephone callers.
- Respond to extensive and diverse questions from military, military dependents, civilians, government contractors, civilian law enforcement agencies, military commanders, insurance companies, law firms, and other individuals.
- Manage the Warning of Debarment, Post Debarment, and Revocation and Suspension of Installation Driving Privileges Program for the DES.
- Provide a complete overview of MPR processing to DES personnel and instructional information pertaining to police forms and enclosures.
- Work with civilian law enforcement and SWS agencies by evaluating criminal information, providing analytical reports pertaining to crime trends and adjudications rendered from outlying agencies, and preparing comparison reports.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes processing law-enforcement reports; administering access restrictions and databases; and preparing crime and workload reports for leadership and law enforcement agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, & Police Science fields of study.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
