The Department of Neurology is looking for, as soon as possible, a

Postdoc Junior Group Leader (m/f/d) — AI & biomedical data architecture

The Clinic for Neurology is filling the leadership of a junior group in the field of Artificial Intelligence and biomedical data architecture (Neuroprecision Hub) at the earliest possible date. The group develops machine learning methods for the integration of high-dimensional, multimodal clinical and molecular data and transforms these into usable database and model infrastructures.

Insight into your tasks:

• Establishment and scientific leadership of the working group (Neuroprecision Hub)
• Development of representation and embedding methods for the integration of multimodal data sources (clinical, imaging, molecular, textual)
• Conception and operation of vector and research databases, including patient similarity methods
• Training, fine-tuning, and evaluation of LLMs as well as the construction of RAG workflows on clinical datasets
• Construction of reproducible ML pipelines (containerization, experiment tracking, CI)
• Acquisition of third-party funding, publications, supervision of doctoral students

Your profile:

• PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, or a related field
• Proven expertise in Deep Learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras) and in generative models (VAE or similar)
• Experience with LLM APIs, RAG architectures, and vector databases
• Sound software engineering competence: Python, SQL/NoSQL, Docker, Git, REST/GraphQL, Cloud (Azure or similar), MLOps/experiment tracking
• Experience in the application of ML to high-dimensional biomedical data
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals; experience as a lead developer of a scientific software package is an advantage
• Leadership and project management experience, proficient in spoken and written communication (also in English)
