Company Presentation
At Alfa Laval, we always strive a little extra to meet the toughest challenges.
Our driving force is to create success for our customers, people, and the planet. This can only be achieved through dedicated and curious people. Curiosity is the spark behind good ideas. And good ideas generate progress.
Alfa Laval in Ronneby, with approximately 420 employees, is one of Alfa Laval's four global factories where copper-brazed and stainless steel heat exchangers are manufactured. These are used in applications such as heat pumps, air conditioning, district heating systems, wind/solar power plants, and similar where our customers are market leaders. The products contribute directly to more efficient energy utilization and thus have a positive impact on the environment. Alfa Laval in Ronneby is in a very expansive phase and we need to strengthen our team with new employees.
We create a better everyday life for people. We love what we do and we are good at it. Do you want to join us and contribute to a more sustainable future through technical inventions?
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a strategic buyer, you will become a central link between the project organization, the purchasing function, and Alfa Laval's suppliers. Your mission is to ensure that purchasing is involved early and that the work is driven structurally from need and requirement specification to supplier selection, negotiation, contract, and follow-up. You combine commercial responsibility with technical and operational understanding. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, production, quality, planning, finance, and colleagues within the regional and global sourcing organization. You will receive a clear individual mandate within your area of responsibility and are expected to create progress, make well-founded decisions, and communicate status to your stakeholders. The role is divided between the purchase of direct material within one of Alfa Laval's projects and indirect material for the business's needs. You will therefore work both close to projects with materials that are part of the current solution and with indirect purchases, for example, packaging material, machine investments, and other business-related purchases. The emphasis lies on creating structure, driving improvements, and developing long-term sustainable purchasing and supplier solutions.
Your main tasks include:
Support the development and implementation of regional and global sourcing strategies.
Lead purchasing activities in projects and ensure that purchasing and commercial perspectives are involved early.
Identify, lead, and implement cost reduction initiatives and improvement projects.
Develop and follow up on the supplier base based on quality, delivery precision, and cost.
Create and update supplier agreements and working methods with a focus on total cost, risk, and product mix.
Drive commercial development, negotiations, and long-term supplier improvements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with, among others, project management, technology, production, quality, and sourcing.
Establish routines for quality follow-up, evaluate supplier performance, and develop improvement plans together with relevant specialist functions.
Your Profile
To thrive in the role, we believe you appreciate the combination of strategy, business acumen, and problem-solving. You thrive in contexts where multiple stakeholders need to be gathered around a common solution and where you get to take responsibility for creating progress.
You are analytical and structured, but above all, proactive. You have the ability to switch between a holistic perspective and details, make decisions even when all information is not available, and build trusting relationships both internally and externally.
We also believe that you are curious, unpretentious, and motivated by developing both suppliers, working methods, and business relationships.
The role requires that you have:
Post-secondary education in purchasing, supply chain, economics, or technology, or long experience in tactical or strategic purchasing. Several years of experience in tactical or strategic purchasing, sourcing, or supplier development. Experience with contracts, negotiations, cost analyses, and improvement work. Good commercial understanding and experience in handling both technical and business requirements. Understanding of supplier quality and performance follow-up. Very good English in speech and writing.
We consider it meritorious if you have experience in manufacturing industry, project purchasing, or coordination of purchasing activities in projects, PPAP, Lean, Six Sigma, risk management, or other structured improvement work.
