The Department of Culture and Media Studies belongs to Umeå universitet's Faculty of Humanities and has around 70 employees. We are now seeking a professor in literary studies with a start date according to agreement.

Description and duties

The duties include research, teaching, supervision, seminar leadership, collaboration, as well as administrative work. The employment also includes 30% faculty-funded research. The professor is expected to initiate research projects and actively seek research funding, preferably in collaboration with several other researchers, as well as contribute overall to the continued development of the subject and the department.

Qualification grounds for employment as a professor

To be qualified to be employed as a professor in literary studies, one must have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical skill within the subject area of literary studies (Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance).

Very good language skills in Swedish and English, as well as the ability to teach at all educational levels in these languages, are a requirement for the employment.
