As part of the Umeå University Northern Star Programme, the Faculty of Medicine is advertising up to three positions as Assistant Professor in any subject within the faculty's research areas and educational programs. The positions will be filled by the applicant who, in competition, is assessed to have the best merits in science and pedagogy, as well as the potential to develop successful research regardless of the subject area. Tasks

The employment is aimed at early-career researchers, and the purpose of the employment is to give an Assistant Professor the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and qualify both scientifically and pedagogically within their subject area to meet the eligibility requirements for a position as Associate Professor. The employment as Assistant Professor is primarily, at least 80 percent, focused on scientific qualification. The remaining time shall primarily be focused on pedagogical qualification.

Teaching may partially take place using internet-based methods remotely. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English. Administrative tasks may be included.

The place of work is Umeå, but work at other locations may occur.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as Assistant Professor, one must have completed a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence.
