TRAVEL ASSISTANT (OA)
You will serve as a TRAVEL ASSISTANT (OA) in the HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE of COMPACFLT HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE.
Major duties
- You will receive, review, and screen requests for travel and transportation entitlements for employees and/or their dependents.
- You will request for Line of Accounting from owning commands, prepare travel orders based on authorization documents, and obtain approval from appropriate authorities.
- You will provide counseling on travel benefits and entitlements in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations and State Department regulations.
- You will assist with pre-employment/in-processing to include making job offers, reviewing employment eligibility forms, scheduling physical/security appointments, and answering questions regarding benefits, travel and transportation entitlements.
- You will use a variety of software programs to develop recurring reports on staffing and classification programs.
Qualifications
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Receiving, reviewing, and screening requests for travel and transportation entitlements for employees and/or their Dependents, to include: permanent change of station (PCS), renewal agreement travel, separation travel, emergency travel, household goods movement, non-temporary storage of household goods, privately-owned vehicle (POV) shipment, temporary quarter's subsistence expenses (TQSE}, real estate and foreign area entitlements. Apply practical knowledge of the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and Department of State Standardized Regulations to recognize each traveler's situation, collect necessary facts, and interpret general guidelines to make decisions. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
