You will serve as a RIGGER SUPERVISOR II in the AUSTRAILIA MAINTENANCE SUPPORT-700AU of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia.See Additional Information section below for details

Major duties

  • You will supervise lifting and handling personnel from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility on fly-away teams, including engineers, trainers, inspectors, supervisors and mechanics as necessary.
  • You will plan and schedule work assignments on a long-range basis. Analyzes present and future work schedules, determines the manpower, material, equipment, training, methods and other requirements needed to perform the work.
  • You will consult regularly with the Australian Maintenance Support Project Team, other second level supervisors both within and outside the lifting and handling section for the planning of present and future work operations.
  • You will anticipate additional rigging personnel and necessary equipment to conduct ongoing operations in Australia.
  • You will determine work requirements by setting deadlines, sequence of operations, and standards of quality and quantity, and maintain balanced workload among subordinates.

  • You will serve as a management representative at hearings, meetings, and negotiations involving labor management relations.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. * Ability to develop short- and long-range operational plans. * Possess comprehensive journeyman-to-supervisory level knowledge of rigging gear, equipment assembly, disassembly, load testing, certification, maintenance, and fabrication. * Ability to monitor work progress, identifying and eliminating production bottlenecks, controlling work delays, and reallocating resources to maintain workflow. * Experienced in interpreting complex technical directives, naval engineering drawings, blueprints, rigging sketches, technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and safety codes. No Education Requirements Additional Information Continued: Effective supervision in the job involves intermittent exposure to moving objects, elevations, exposed electrical conductors, sharp edges, explosives, toxic fumes, high speed flying particles; other hazards such as high pressure fluids and gases, and may include radiation. The work requires the incumbent to work in the field which involves considerable climbing, stooping and walking aboard ships and submarines. The incumbent must be physically and psychologically qualified to climb to areas which may require the use of fall protection to plan, oversight and or verify work processes/completion.
