This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Medical Technician in a Military Entrance Processing Station, providing program oversight and supervision to Medical Technicians. This will be filled on a permanent basis.

Major duties

  • As a Supervisory Medical Technician, you will:
  • Plan, organize, control and direct the work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities.
  • Prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments to positions.
  • Interview candidates for positions.
  • Hear and resolve complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor. Disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other actions in more serious cases.

  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
  • Find ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed
  • Develop performance standards for employees.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing and/or advising on a variety of complex medial test, procedure, and examinations in a clinical laboratory; Maintaining quality assurance and quality control checks of medical test results; Performing phlebotomy/blood draws on patients; Delegating tasks and providing technical guidance to medical technicians and/or medical personnel; Performing quality assurance reviews of applicant records and ensuring they include medical test result. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
