SUPERVISORY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL)
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) in the AIRFIELD OPERATIONS DIVISION of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.
Major duties
- You will be the first line supervision of the assigned military and civilian Air traffic controllers (ATC) providing air traffic control to military, commercial and civilian aircraft in a highly complicated air space.
- You will ensure a safe, orderly, and expedient operation of ATC services and oversees the overall air traffic control operation.
- You will conduct coordination and liaison work with local FAA representatives, Airfield Operations and surrounding facilities.
- You will be required to render rapid and accurate decisions under extreme stress.
- You will frequently assess the developing situation and make required adjustments in priorities and schedules.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: supervising control of air traffic, evaluating the capabilities and progress of air traffic controllers, providing and making recommendations for air traffic controller development and training, evaluating changes to air traffic control policy and procedures, and reviewing existing air traffic control procedures. Conditions of Employment Continued: This position requires a current DD 2992 Medical Recommendation for Flying or Special Operational Duty on file in accordance with physical standards specified in the Manual of Medical Department (MANMED) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Control Operator Certificate, and Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate with TRACON rating. Incumbent must be qualified and current on all operating positions in both the Tower and Radar sections You will be required to work all posted airfield hours . Occasionally , modifications of these hours are required to accommodate special military operations , late closure , and early openings required to accommodate special military operations, late closure, and early openings. Additional Information Continued: This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position. In the event the emergency situation occurs during shift rotation, the employee reporting for the next shift is required to report for duty unless otherwise advised by his/her supervisor and the employee at work stays until he/she is relieved by shift replacement or approved by supervisor to leave.
