This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position supervises an assigned shift or station of the pre hospital emergency medical services (PHEMS) program for an Army or Joint Base installation. Fort Jackson, SC.

Major duties

  • Supervise the Advanced Life Support (ALS) EMS program for an assigned shift or station for an Army or Joint Base installation.
  • Provide operational oversight, guidance, and ensures completion of administrative and operational tasks performed by the EMS staff.
  • Develop and implement supply, equipment and vehicle accountability plans for the shift or station.
  • Evaluate paramedics and emergency medical technicians’ performance and adherence to policy.
  • Set priorities and insure timely subordinate performance.
  • Assign work to subordinates based upon priorities, selective consideration of assignment difficulty, and employee capability.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Assessing the condition of patients and diagnostic signs in order to establish priority for emergency care; 2) Identifying training needs for personnel and providing training to personnel as necessary; and, 3) Responding to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks Licensure/Certification: Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid, unrestricted State Paramedic license for the state where the installation is located or a valid National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification at time of hire. If they only have one, they must be able to obtain the other within 12 months of hire. (Example, if they have a valid, unrestricted State Paramedic license at time of hire; the incumbent has 12 months to obtain a valid National Registry Paramedic (NRP) or vice versa). *Some states may have other requirements and installations in these states will coordinate with the CHRA office for state specific variances
