Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic Leader
About the Position: Serves as a working leader of four or more employees responsible for the full lifecycle maintenance, repair, calibration, modification, and certification of highly complex, computer-based electronic test equipment and automated systems.
Major duties
- Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work
- Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material and tools are available, and that needed repair parts are obtained
- Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems
- Performs comprehensive lifecycle maintenance, repair, calibration, modification, and certification of highly complex, computer based electronic test equipment and automated systems.
- Performs complex troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, and operational testing
- Diagnoses electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic malfunctions in armament control and release systems
- Using specialized test equipment to verify system integrity and communication
- Repairs or replaces defective components such as integrated circuits, microprocessors, and optical sensors
- Develops, writes, and debugs test programs using manufacturer specific programming languages
- Provides senior level journeyman expertise in the reverse engineering of obsolete or unsupported electronic systems
- Executes Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity duties in accordance with DoD requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the full range of duties, which include: diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and modifying complex electronic measurement and test systems. Guide and distribute work to a team of four or more technicians, manage software and hardware patches, and safely operate heavy material handling equipment (cranes, forklifts) to transport components up to 50 pounds under strict safety protocols. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: The work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. The mechanics frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) independently, and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. They work in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping is required. Working Conditions: The mechanics normally work in clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas, but may work at remote user locations under variable conditions. They are exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or radio frequency energy or hot solder, and cuts and bruises. Workers may be required to wear appropriate safety gear such as protective eyewear, and/or work within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required.
