About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Major duties

  • Manufacture, repair, modify, and rework precision parts and equipment.
  • Read blueprints, 3D models, drawings, and work orders to plan machining tasks.
  • Select materials, tools, fixtures, machine settings, and work sequences.
  • Set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Perform cutting, drilling, milling, turning, grinding, boring, and other precision machining.
  • Modify or sharpen tools, jigs, and fixtures to meet required tolerances and finishes.
  • Complete precision handwork, fitting, finishing, and assembly of parts.
  • Conduct hardness and conductivity testing to verify material and heat-treatment conditions.

  • Interpret and explain blueprints, 3D models and other drawings to plan machining tasks.
  • Perform cutting, drilling, milling, turning, grinding and other precision machining.
  • Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching; and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. May be required to climb and work on aircraft, in test cells, and other areas outside the shop area.

Working Conditions: Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment as required. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the work.
