Engineering Technician (Mechanical)
About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Strategic Management. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
Major duties
- Provide technical support for sustainment operation in a constrained environment.
- Develop repair plans for mechanical equipment to support operations.
- Assess partner worksite needs to define equipment, facility, and training requirements.
- Build partner competency through structured knowledge transfer tied to sustainment standards.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes:1) preparing production repair plans to improve equipment readiness 2. evaluating electronic system performance data to update engineering specs; 3. applying engineering principles to establish local operating procedures and 4. providing technical engineering assistance to sustainment operations in constrained environments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-9). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Mechanical Engineering Project Management Teaching Others Technical Documentation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
