IT Field Engineer

About the company

The opportunity TwoSix Recruitment are working with an established local IT and telecoms business looking for a hands-on Field Engineer to join their team.

Your tasks

This is a varied role combining installations, configuration, fault finding and customer support.

You'll be visiting business customers, installing and configuring equipment, resolving technical issues and making sure everything is working as it should.

What will you be doing?

• Installing and configuring IT and telecoms equipment
• Setting up routers, switches, Wi-Fi and network solutions
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on site
• Carrying out network cabling, termination and testing when required
• Supporting customers both remotely and face to face
• Planning and completing customer installations
• Working closely with colleagues to deliver a great service

Requirements

Personality is just as important as technical ability. We're looking for someone who is friendly, confident with customers, enjoys solving problems and isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up.

• Previous experience in an IT, telecoms or network engineering role
• Confident configuring routers, switches and network equipment
• Practical experience of network cabling and cable termination
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Someone organised, reliable and comfortable working independently
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in
• Full UK driving licence

Experience with VoIP, firewalls, Microsoft 365 or cloud-based systems would be an advantage, but we're not expecting someone to know everything.

We're looking for someone with the right attitude, good practical skills and the ability to build relationships with customers.
