About the company
TutorJohn Learning Centre is a growing tuition centre in Singapore specialising in small-group classes for Primary and Secondary students. We use in-house curriculum materials and interactive lessons to help students master the English Language and achieve their academic goals effectively.
Your tasks
As a Full-Time English Tutor at TutorJohn Learning Centre, you will deliver engaging English language lessons (covering Paper 1 Composition/Situational Writing, Paper 2 Language Use & Comprehension, Oral, and Listening Comprehension), monitor student progress, and contribute to English curriculum development to support student success in Primary and Secondary education.
- Conduct engaging English tuition classes for Primary and Secondary students to enhance learning outcomes and literacy skills.
- Prepare and deliver lessons focusing on grammar, vocabulary, comprehension strategies, essay writing techniques, and oral communication using TutorJohn's in-house curriculum.
- Mark student compositions, assignments, and test papers, providing constructive feedback to guide continuous improvement.
- Monitor students’ academic progress and identify specific areas requiring additional support (e.g., creative writing techniques, comprehension answering techniques).
- Maintain clear and timely communication with parents regarding student performance and development when required.
- Assist in English lesson planning, curriculum enhancement, and the development of teaching resources aligned with the current MOE English syllabus.
- Support school holiday English writing bootcamps, revision workshops, and enrichment classes to extend learning opportunities.
- Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and centre events to foster collaboration and professional growth.
- Maintain a positive, organised, and professional classroom environment conducive to learning.
Requirements
Required Competencies and Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, patient, and able to work well in a team.
Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
- Familiarity with the latest MOE English Language syllabus and national exam formats (PSLE / GCE O-Level / N-Level).
- Passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and fostering a love for reading and writing.

- Monthly Salary: S$3,000 – S$4,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Working Hours
- 5-Day Work Week
- Weekdays: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
- Weekends (where applicable): Morning/Afternoon classes
- One weekday and one weekend day off (subject to operational needs).
Employment Terms
- Probation Period: 3 months
- Notice Period: 2 months after confirmation
