Product Designer
Responsibilities:
Product Design Leadership and Ownership:
Lead and manage product design across Tuteria and Medbuddy. Take full ownership of product design projects from initial discovery and ideation to final implementation and release. Establish clear product-design standards, processes, documentation requirements, and quality expectations. Ensure that all product designs conform to approved user experience, visual design, accessibility, and brand standards. Translate company strategy, product objectives, business requirements, and user needs into clear design priorities. Review and approve product designs before they are handed over to the tech team. Provide design direction for internal teams, agencies, or external partners. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, consistency, and agreed delivery timelines. Identify design risks, inconsistencies, usability problems, and experience gaps and ensure they are addressed. Represent the design function during product planning, project reviews, sprint sessions, and management discussions. Promote user-centered and evidence-based design practices across the organization.
End-to-End Product Design Management:
Manage the complete product design process from problem definition to final delivery. Define the design scope, required deliverables, dependencies, milestones, review stages, and completion criteria for each project. Develop initial concepts, explore alternative solutions, and progressively refine designs through structured iterations. Ensure that each design iteration responds to user feedback, business requirements, product data, technical considerations, and stakeholder input. Maintain clear version control and document significant design changes and decisions. Ensure that approved designs are complete before development begins, including responsive layouts, component states, interactions, edge cases, and supporting content. Conduct final design reviews and confirm that each project meets the required standard before release. Monitor the quality and performance of released designs and recommend further improvements where necessary. Ensure design projects are not considered complete until approved designs have been accurately implemented and reviewed.
User Research and Product Discovery:
Conduct research to understand the behaviours, expectations, motivations, and challenges of Tuteria and Medbuddy’s users. Engage relevant users, including learners, parents, tutors, instructors, students, school administrators, corporate clients, and internal employees. Use interviews, surveys, observations, usability tests, customer-support records, product analytics, and stakeholder feedback to gather insights. Work with Product Managers and Business Analysts and other relevant internal stakeholders to develop user personas, jobs to be done, journey maps, service blueprints, and problem statements. Analyze user complaints, recurring support requests, conversion data, and drop-off points to identify experience gaps. Validate assumptions before significant design and development resources are committed. Translate research findings into clear, actionable product-design recommendations. Maintain an organized repository of research findings, user feedback, usability issues, and design decisions.
User Experience Design:
Design intuitive and efficient user journeys across Tuteria and Medbuddy’s products. Develop information architecture, site maps, user flows, task flows, wireframes, journey maps, and service blueprints where required. Simplify complex processes such as registration, onboarding, programme selection, tutor matching, enrolment, scheduling, lesson delivery, learning, assessment, payment, reporting, certification, and customer support. Design experiences for the different users of the platforms, including learners, parents, tutors, instructors, school partners, healthcare trainees, administrators, and operational teams. Ensure each design supports a clearly defined user task and business objective. Design complete user journeys, including entry points, navigation, confirmations, notifications, errors, recovery paths, and completion states. Consider the needs of new, returning, active, inactive, restricted, and less digitally experienced users. Define appropriate empty, loading, error, success, offline, and low-connectivity states. Reduce unnecessary steps, confusion, friction, and abandonment across important product journeys. Ensure product experiences remain easy to understand and use across different devices and user groups.
User Interface and Interaction Design:
Create polished, modern, and high-quality interfaces for websites, mobile products, dashboards, portals, learning platforms, and internal systems. Produce low-fidelity wireframes, high-fidelity mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and final production-ready designs. Design responsive experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Define interface components and interaction patterns for navigation, forms, tables, reports, filters, alerts, notifications, dashboards, payments, and other product elements. Ensure consistency in visual hierarchy, typography, colour, spacing, grids, imagery, icons, and component usage. Create designs that support users with different levels of digital literacy. Apply accessibility standards to colour contrast, text legibility, navigation, focus states, forms, labels, and interactive elements. Consider users with low bandwidth, smaller screens, older devices, or unreliable internet access. Ensure designs include all relevant component variations, responsive behaviours, validation states, and edge cases. Prepare clear specifications, annotations, interaction notes, and assets for accurate implementation.
Design System Development and Management:
Develop, document, maintain, and continuously improve a shared design system for Tuteria and Medbuddy. Create and manage reusable components, styles, templates, design tokens, interaction patterns, and usage guidelines. Establish standards for typography, colour, spacing, grids, icons, buttons, forms, tables, cards, navigation, modals, feedback states, and other interface elements. Ensure the design system supports shared company standards while preserving the distinct brand identities of Tuteria and Medbuddy. Collaborate with the tech and other relevant teams to improve the quality, usability, and adoption of reusable front-end components. Review and approve new design patterns before they are introduced into the design system. Prevent unnecessary design variations, duplicated components, and inconsistent product experiences. Conduct periodic design-system and product-interface audits. Ensure all stakeholders and design contributors use the approved components and standards.
Prototyping, Validation, and Usability Testing:
Create interactive prototypes to communicate product concepts, validate flows, and demonstrate intended behaviours. Determine the appropriate level of prototype detail based on the stage and complexity of the project. Plan and conduct usability testing with representative users before major features are developed or released. Define testing objectives, participant profiles, tasks, success criteria, and observation methods. Analyse usability-test results and identify recurring user difficulties, misunderstandings, and opportunities for improvement. Prioritise usability issues based on their frequency, severity, and impact on users and business outcomes. Revise and improve designs based on research findings, test results, stakeholder feedback, and technical considerations. Document test findings, decisions, and subsequent design changes. Confirm that revised designs improve user understanding, task completion, and overall usability.
Product Strategy and Planning:
Participate in product discovery, roadmap planning, requirements definition, sprint planning, and product-review sessions. Work with product managers to ensure product requirements reflect real user needs and intended business outcomes. Contribute design insights to decisions concerning product priorities, feature scope, and release sequencing. Assess and communicate the user-experience implications of proposed business or technical decisions. Provide realistic design estimates and identify dependencies that may affect delivery timelines. Help define minimum viable product requirements without compromising essential usability and quality. Evaluate new product and feature concepts before substantial development resources are committed. Recommend product improvements based on user research, analytics, business performance, support trends, and market developments. Maintain a prioritised backlog of product-design and usability improvements.
Developer Handoff and Implementation Support:
Prepare organized, complete, and development-ready design files. Provide the tech team with final designs, prototypes, specifications, assets, component states, responsive behaviours, and interaction requirements. Conduct detailed design walkthroughs before development begins. Clarify requirements and respond promptly to design questions during implementation. Collaborate with the tech team when technical constraints require adjustments to approved designs. Ensure agreed design changes are documented and reflected in the master design files. Review development builds, test environments, and staging environments for accuracy. Identify and document visual, usability, interaction, responsive, and accessibility defects. Work with the tech team to resolve design-related issues before release. Provide final design approval before production deployment where required.
Design Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance:
Establish and manage a structured design quality-assurance process. Review all relevant product releases for consistency with approved designs and company standards. Conduct regular audits of websites, applications, dashboards, portals, learning platforms, and internal tools. Identify inconsistent components, broken journeys, confusing content, accessibility gaps, and visual defects. Maintain and prioritize a register of design and usability issues. Confirm that all product designs comply with relevant accessibility, privacy, security, and data-handling requirements. Monitor released products and recommend improvements based on user behaviour, complaints, support requests, and product data. Prevent unapproved, inconsistent, or low-quality design changes from being introduced into live products. Ensure that final designs deliver an appropriate balance of user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
Product Content and Communication Design:
Ensure that interface content is clear, concise, helpful, and appropriate for the intended audience. Collaborate with relevant teams on labels, instructions, onboarding content, validation messages, error messages, notifications, and calls to action. Maintain consistent terminology across products, features, and user journeys. Ensure information about programmes, payments, schedules, assessments, lessons, certificates, and user responsibilities is presented accurately. Simplify technical, academic, healthcare, and operational information so users can understand and act on it. Support the development of product guides, walkthroughs, release communications, and help materials where required.
Continuous Product Improvement
Work with Product and Business teams to define success measures for new designs and product improvements. Use product analytics, conversion data, user feedback, customer-support trends, and usability findings to evaluate design performance. Monitor critical journeys such as registration, onboarding, tutor or programme selection, enrolment, payment, learning, assessment, lesson completion, and certification. Identify areas where users abandon tasks, have trouble, or require assistance. Design and support experiments intended to improve conversion, engagement, retention, completion, and satisfaction. Compare user and business performance before and after significant design changes. Recommend improvements based on evidence rather than assumptions. Stay informed about product-design practices, technologies, accessibility standards, and relevant market trends.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or a related discipline. Relevant professional certifications in product design, UX research, interaction design, accessibility, or product management are an advantage. A minimum of 4–6 years of professional experience in product design, UX/UI design, interaction design, or a related role. Demonstrated experience independently leading digital product-design projects from discovery and iteration through implementation and release. Proven ability to manage several product-design projects and stakeholders simultaneously. Experience designing responsive websites, web applications, mobile products, dashboards, portals, learning platforms, or complex administrative systems. Proven experience creating, managing, or contributing significantly to a scalable design system. Experience in edtech, healthcare training, marketplaces, SaaS, learning platforms, or service-based technology businesses is an advantage. Strong knowledge of user-centred design, design thinking, interaction design, and digital product-development principles. Ability to evaluate design quality objectively and provide clear, practical feedback. Strong design leadership, project-management, and stakeholder-management capabilities. Ability to take ownership and independently drive design projects to completion. Strong planning, documentation, prioritization, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
