About the company

Your new working environment

  • You will join an international biotech company that develops and produces advanced cell therapy for cancer patients, in close collaboration with a large global pharmaceutical partner responsible for commercialization and infrastructure.
  • The site in Belgium is the European production hub and simultaneously serves as a backup for US production; every product made is unique and tailored to a single patient.
  • Organizationally, the company is still very much in development: processes and internal controls are not yet fully defined everywhere, which offers plenty of room to help build them and have an impact.
  • Finance is spread across multiple countries (including the US and Ireland); locally, you will work in a small, tight-knit team and receive additional support from these international colleagues.
  • As a Nasdaq-listed company, the organization is SOX-compliant, which entails an extensive and structural framework of internal controls.

Your tasks

Your responsibilities

  • You take full ownership of the internal controls within supply chain accounting, from sourcing to finished product: from both a US (SOX) and a local perspective.
  • You monitor and test the correct reporting of financial movements throughout the supply chain, both in terms of management and IFRS reporting.
  • You are the central point of contact for internal audit, the corporate controller, and the US and local finance teams regarding this matter.
  • You lead an important transformation project: the transition from standard costing to actual costing.
  • You rework the existing, organically grown internal control framework into a structured and defensible whole.
  • You manage 2 direct reports (cost accounting and AP/AR).
  • You work closely with colleagues both domestically and abroad within the broader finance organization.

Requirements

  • You have a strong technical and/or audit background (for example, experience in external or internal audit, or internal controls) and naturally think like an auditor.
  • You have a hands-on profile: you set up a control framework yourself and defend it, rather than just advising like a consultant.
  • Affinity with cost accounting and/or supply chain finance is a strong asset.
  • You communicate fluently and persuasively, also towards internal audit and international stakeholders.
  • You have a down-to-earth, open personality, and work independently and result-oriented.
  • You speak fluent English (international, US context); knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • You have growth ambition and want to evolve within an organization that is itself still very much in development.
