Your new work environment

Our client is a Belgian fintech scale-up headquartered in Gent. They build software that allows financial institutions to digitalize their compliance and customer processes, and that product is currently running at some of the largest banks and insurers in the country. After a Series A round of 10 million euros, the company is in full European expansion: today two entities, Belgium and France, tomorrow more.

You will join a finance function that largely still needs to be built. You will report directly to the CFO and act as his right hand for everything regarding closing, reporting, budget, and cash. It is a new role, purely created by growth — so no replacement and no existing framework that you simply slide into. Flat structure, short lines, and a leadership team that effectively works with your figures.

Your responsibilities

  • You lead the monthly and annual closing across the entities and monitor accounting and tax compliance.
  • You expand the management and revenue reporting, and translate the figures into insights that non-financial colleagues can effectively use.
  • You lead the budget process: preparation, monitoring, and discussion with the department leads.
  • You maintain rolling forecasts on revenue, P&L, and cash, and manage cash flow, working capital, and bank relations.
  • You support investor reporting and future fundraising trajectories.
  • You provide the financial analysis for pricing, investment decisions, expansion, and potential M&A files.
  • You manage the relationship with external accounting and tax partners.
  • You help build the finance function itself: tooling, processes, and automation, together with the CFO and business operations.

What you bring

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in finance, accounting, audit, or FP&A — as a Finance Manager, Controller, Senior Accountant, or from Big Four with subsequent experience in a corporate context.
  • A solid technical foundation in BE GAAP: monthly closing, audit prep, and tax principles are not new territory for you.
  • Experience in an international context with multiple entities (consolidation, transfer pricing).
  • Business partnering in your DNA: you can sit in with non-finance profiles without falling into jargon.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in finance, accounting, or business economics.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, but equally hands-on. In a scale-up, you create both the journal entry and the board slide.
  • Independent and proactive. There is no playbook ready — you write it yourself.
  • Fluent English is a must (working language), supplemented by Dutch or French at a professional level.
  • Plus points: B2B SaaS or recurring revenue (ARR, MRR, NRR, churn, CAC), a VC- or PE-backed environment, experience with Odoo, NetSuite, Power BI, or BrightAnalytics, and a title such as CPA or ACCA.

What can you expect?

  • A gross salary between 4,400 and 7,500 euros per month, depending on your experience.
  • Company car or mobility budget, net allowance, pension plan, group and hospitalization insurance, meal and eco vouchers, mobile budget and subscription.
  • 32 vacation days.
  • Hybrid working from Gent, with a minimum of one day per week in the office. For the right profile, there is flexibility regarding location.
  • A long-term freelance collaboration is negotiable.
  • A finance function that you can shape yourself, with a CFO who provides space and a company that is growing fast enough to let your role grow with it.
