Communications Specialist (R-00216)
This role bridges security engineering and day to day operations by supporting implementation of security capabilities, evaluating technical solutions, maintaining cybersecurity tools, and helping operational teams translate security architecture into effective, repeatable practices. The Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with vulnerability management, incident response, RMF, and ISSO teams to ensure engineering activities directly support operational risk reduction and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities Develop executive briefings, stakeholder updates, talking points, and concise summaries of maturity and implementation progress.
Translate technical findings, risks, dependencies, and recommendations into clear language for varied stakeholder audiences.
Support communication planning for system implementation waves, pilots, architecture reviews, and operational readiness activities.
Maintain consistent terminology and messaging across scorecards, reports, use cases, engineering artifacts, and implementation updates.
Coordinate inputs from technical leads and validate communications against approved source material before release.
Capture stakeholder feedback and ensure communications-related actions are routed to appropriate delivery owners.
Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
Three or more years of communications or technical writing experience in IT, cybersecurity, or Federal programs.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information for executive and nontechnical audiences.
Strong editing, presentation development, stakeholder coordination, and quality control skills.
Ability to manage recurring communications in a fast-moving technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting cybersecurity modernization or Zero Trust initiatives.
Experience preparing Federal executive briefings and decision materials.
Familiarity with architecture, engineering, or implementation terminology.
Preferred Certifications:
One or more of the following is preferred:
PMP or CAPM
Security+
Technical communication certification
