About the company

Trinity International is a boutique law firm with a unique focus on projects, finance, corporate and commercial transactions and international arbitration and dispute resolution in emerging markets. We think like entrepreneurs: we believe clients doing the most challenging deals in the most challenging markets deserve senior, hands-on lawyers who roll up their sleeves and get things done.

Our award-winning, senior-led team boasts vast experience in the power and renewables, resources, mining and infrastructure, industrial and agricultural sectors. With offices in Singapore, London, Paris and Washington, D.C., we are a boutique firm with a global vision.

The firm provides legal services in project finance, commercial and corporate transactions and international arbitration and dispute resolution in emerging markets across the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America. These are tough, fast-moving and sometimes unpredictable markets, and that is exactly why we love working in them.

The firm’s clients include financial institutions, including development finance institutions, multilaterals, commercial banks and funds, major corporates, developers and sponsors of projects, equity investors, governments and other public sector stakeholders.

Your tasks

We are looking for an Associate with energy, curiosity and a sense of adventure to join our growing Singapore team.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit on one small piece of a very large deal. At Trinity you will be close to the action from day one: working directly with partners and clients, and helping to get landmark projects over the line in markets where the playbook is still being written.

The role covers the full life of energy and infrastructure projects: drafting, reviewing and negotiating project, finance and security documents, supporting M&A and joint venture transactions, carrying out due diligence and managing the interface with clients, local counsel and other advisers. You will work in a dynamic team with different partners, counsel and associates, often alongside colleagues in the firm's other offices.

Trinity does not believe in lawyers having a narrow focus or being pigeon-holed. As a result, although financing and energy M&A experience is key, the role will allow and encourage the successful candidate to experience other aspects of the firm’s practice, including project development, wider M&A/private equity and international arbitration. If you enjoy variety, you will fit right in.

Core focus will be on the power/energy and infrastructure sectors, but will also involve sectors including mining, oil & gas, petrochemicals, heavy industry, manufacturing and agribusiness.

Day-to-day tasks include drafting and reviewing contracts, conducting due diligence, managing client relationships, and advising clients on project and corporate finance and energy M&A matters. The role requires collaboration with international colleagues and handling cross-border transactions.

We are a growing firm and everyone has a stake in building it. All members of the team are encouraged to play a part in business development, and good ideas are welcome from anyone, whatever their seniority.

Requirements

Singapore or common law qualified (admitted in Singapore, UK, Australia, New Zealand or Canada), 3+ years PQE, preferably in a global law firm.

Experience in project finance, corporate finance, energy M&A and project development, with a particular focus on financing.

Proven ability to draft and negotiate finance and M&A transaction documents, conduct due diligence, and manage client relationships.

Strong knowledge of energy, infrastructure, resources, and industry sectors.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to collaborate across international offices.

Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.

Previous experience working in emerging markets, or a genuine appetite to do work in them.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES Entrepreneurial Spirit: Enjoy building things. See a tricky market or a complex deal as an opportunity, not an obstacle.

Team Player: Work in a team environment in a collaborative and positive manner. Be willing to help colleagues in busy times in particular.

Positive Outlook: Exhibit a friendly and enthusiastic demeanour that encourages a collaborative environment. Find solutions, not problems.

A Sense of Humour: We work hard on demanding matters and we like to enjoy it. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves.

Integrity and Professionalism: Demonstrate honesty and confidence, fostering trust and credibility with colleagues and clients.

Proactive Mindset: Take initiative to drive tasks and projects forward and address issues effectively, both personally and within the team.

Long term: We encourage candidates to take a long-term approach in interviewing with us and we provide a collaborative environment where a candidate can continue to grow professionally.
