About the company
Our client is a fast-growing data centre company building and operating large-scale, AI-ready data centres across Asia. With several new campuses under development, the company is building out its in-house legal team. This is a hands-on seat in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where you will shape how the legal function supports the business.
Your tasks
- Draft, review and negotiate the contracts that take a data centre from land to live operations, including:
- EPC, construction and design-and-build contracts
- Land purchase, land leases and facility leases
- Equipment supply and procurement agreements (power, cooling and electrical systems)
- Consultant and professional services agreements (design, engineering, project management)
- Power supply and grid connection arrangements
- Colocation, interconnection and connectivity agreements
- Operations and maintenance, facilities management and security services agreements
- Hardware procurement and capacity agreements for AI and high-performance computing
- Lead negotiations with contractors, landlords, equipment vendors, customers and service providers, balancing commercial goals with legal and operational risk.
- Give practical, business-focused legal advice to the project, construction, procurement and operations teams across the full data centre lifecycle.
- Build and maintain contract templates, playbooks and standard negotiating positions to speed up deal turnaround.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Singapore and the region, and manage external counsel where needed.
Requirements
- Law degree (LLB, JD or equivalent) and admission to the Singapore Bar or another common law jurisdiction.
- At least 6 years of post-qualification experience in commercial or transactional work (not litigation).
- Hands-on experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts. Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred: data centres, infrastructure, construction / EPC, technology or outsourcing, procurement, or cloud / AI computing.
- A mix of law firm and in-house experience is an advantage, but strong candidates from either background are welcome.
- Able to work independently and build processes from scratch in a lean, fast-paced team.
- Strong commercial judgment, drafting and stakeholder management skills.
