Kitchen Porter

£12.71 per hour, Plumpton, 45 hours per week (08:30 to 18:30 Monday to Friday), Permanent, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays and efficiency closure days, enhanced pension, free parking, subsidised food.

The Role An excellent opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join the catering team of a well-established educational organisation based in Plumpton. Reporting to the Catering Coordinator, the Kitchen Porter will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the dining and catering facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and customer service are maintained at all times. Due to the rural location, applicants will require their own transport.

Key responsibilities include: Washing pots, pans, crockery and kitchen equipment as require Assisting the kitchen team with basic food preparation duties Supporting food service within the dining hall Keeping food preparation and wash-up areas clean and organised Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health and safety standards Wearing appropriate protective clothing and footwear in accordance with regulations Assisting with catering requirements across the site when needed Supporting evening or occasional weekend functions and events Undertaking food hygiene and food handling training as required Providing a polite, professional and courteous service to students, staff and visitors

Requirements Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter is highly desirable; however, candidates with experience in catering, hospitality, food service or kitchen environments will also be considered. A positive attitude, reliability and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are highly desirable. Knowledge of food hygiene standards is desirable, and a willingness to undertake training where required is essential. Due to the rural location of this Kitchen Porter position, applicants will need their own transport. The successful Kitchen Porter will be professional, hardworking and committed to delivering excellent service standards. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Catering Assistant, Kitchen Assistant or Food Service Assistant.
