Are you a passionate Forest School practitioner or outdoor educator looking to transform lives through nature-based learning? We are recruiting an energetic and nurturing Forest School Teacher / Practitioner for a forward-thinking Alternative Provision (AP) in Burnley . This position offers a clear temp-to-perm pathway for someone who thrives outside of the four walls of a standard classroom. You will lead outdoor education and practical woodland sessions for children and young people who have faced barriers in mainstream schooling, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, neurodiversity (ASC, ADHD), and school-related anxiety. Role & Key Responsibilities Plan, risk-assess, and deliver practical, therapeutic Forest School sessions across primary and secondary AP cohorts.

Lead bushcraft, tool work, shelter building, campfire cooking, nature craft, and conservation tasks to promote self-esteem, teamwork, and resilience.

Use outdoor, hands-on activities to embed functional skills, sensory regulation, and emotional literacy.

Manage small group dynamics (typically 4-6 pupils) alongside experienced Learning Support Assistants.

Apply positive behaviour support, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed approaches.

Oversee site safety, outdoor resource maintenance, and ecological management of the school's woodland area.

Who We Are Looking For Qualifications: Level 3 Forest School Leader certification is highly advantageous, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) or solid background as an Unqualified Teacher, Outdoor Learning Instructor, or Specialist HLTA.

Experience: Track record working with vulnerable learners, SEMH, PRU, or SEND environments.

Skills: Competent with tool use, dynamic outdoor risk assessments, and outdoor first aid.

Mindset: Adaptable, calm under pressure, empathetic, and enthusiastic about teaching outdoors year-round in all Lancashire weather.

Compliance: Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to process one immediately) and verifiable employment references.
