The Role

• Teach engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 teaching available depending on experience.
• Deliver well-planned lessons that develop students' reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, and communication skills.
• Encourage students to explore and appreciate a diverse range of literary texts.
• Create opportunities for discussion, debate, critical thinking, and creative writing.
• Adapt lessons and resources to support students with different abilities and learning needs, including SEND and EAL.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Establish high expectations for behaviour, effort, and academic achievement.
• Work alongside the English department to develop schemes of work and contribute to curriculum planning.
• Support literacy initiatives, enrichment activities, clubs, and wider school events.

About You

• Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
• Have experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
• Be confident managing a classroom and creating a positive learning environment.
• Have the ability to engage students and make English accessible to learners of all abilities.
• Be committed to achieving high standards and helping every student make progress.
• Have strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
• Be a reflective teacher who is keen to collaborate with colleagues and continue developing professionally.
• Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
