About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an outstanding secondary school in Durham, seeking a talented and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their successful department from October Half Term 2026 until July 2027.
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a high-achieving and supportive school renowned for its excellent standards, strong leadership, and commitment to student success. The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and innovative lessons that inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assess, monitor, and support student progress
- Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
- Ensure all practical activities are delivered safely and in line with workshop health and safety requirements
- Contribute positively to the wider school community
- Support students in achieving their academic and personal potential

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Design & Technology within a UK secondary school
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Design & Technology
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations
- Two professional references covering the last two years
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
