TPP Recruitment is supporting a well-established charity with the recruitment of an experienced Assistant Company Secretary for a temporary assignment until the end of the year. This is a hands-on role providing high-quality governance and company secretarial support to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. You’ll support Board and Committee administration, statutory and regulatory requirements, and wider governance activity.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including agendas, papers, minute-taking and action tracking
  • Support statutory filings and returns, including Companies House and Charity Commission submissions
  • Provide guidance on governance, constitutional and regulatory matters
  • Support Trustee induction, training and Board effectiveness activity
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of governance policies and processes
  • Build effective relationships with Trustees, senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Line manage and support the Governance Officer

Essential experience and qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Achieved or currently working towards the Chartered Governance Institute qualification
  • Strong governance, company secretarial or senior Board support experience
  • Practical charity sector governance experience
  • Experience supporting Boards and/or Committees , including agendas, papers, minute-taking and action tracking
  • Experience completing statutory reports and returns , including Companies House and Charity Commission submissions
  • Strong understanding of legal, statutory and regulatory frameworks
  • Confidence working with Trustees and senior stakeholders
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills
  • A professional and discreet approach to handling confidential information
  • Experience using an electronic Board management system would be advantageous.
