WATERMAN – WINDHAM WATER WORKS Mansfield Center, CT The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Waterman. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk @ $35.50/hr). Under the direction of the Water Superintendent or his/her designee, the Waterman is responsible for performing a wide range of operation, maintenance, construction, and repair activities in a Class II Water Distribution System, including maintaining water system facilities, equipment, and grounds maintenance. Maintains compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations. This position is classified as an "essential" employee; which means the employee is expected to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather (i.e., tropical storm, hurricane, ice/snowstorm, etc.), natural or man-made disasters, pandemic, etc. Must possess a high school or trade school diploma supplemented by classroom training in water distribution fundamentals, plus two (2) years of documented water utility construction and repair experience; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Must obtain and maintain a CT Class II Water Distribution System Operator certificate, within twenty-four (24) months from date of hire. Must attend classes and attain/retain appropriate licenses and/or certifications. Must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Class B CDL Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, preferred. Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
