NIGHT WATCH / NACHTWAKER

As a night watch, you are the point of contact and the responsible person in the hostel during the night.

You ensure that our guests feel welcome, while simultaneously guarding the peace, safety, and house rules within The ASH.

Your tasks include:

• welcoming guests in a friendly manner and checking in any late arrivals;
• monitoring who enters the hostel during the night;

• performing regular patrol rounds throughout the entire building;
• ensuring peace and safety in the rooms and common areas;

• consistently enforcing the house rules;
• checking and leaving the bar, common kitchen, garden, and terrace tidy;

• performing small cleaning and maintenance tasks;
• identifying and registering any technical problems;

• performing some preparatory tasks for breakfast and the morning shift.

Important: this is therefore not a position where you are only present at the reception. During your shift, you are actively responsible for the smooth running of the night throughout the entire hostel.

You will primarily work:

• Saturday and Sunday nights;
• from approximately 21:00/22:00 to 06:00;

• potentially additional weeknights, in mutual consultation and depending on our planning.

You are:

• friendly and hospitable towards our guests;
• assertive when necessary and not afraid to address someone regarding inappropriate behavior;

• calm and confident in difficult or unexpected situations;
• responsible and reliable;

• communicative enough to interact with a very international audience;
• willing to actively perform rounds and checks during the night;

• flexible to occasionally cover an extra weeknight.

Experience in hospitality, security, catering, or night work is a plus, but for us, reliability, maturity, and personality are at least as important.
